Fabian Bredlow made his first and so far only appearance of the season in goal for VfB Stuttgart when they beat Kaiserslautern 2-1 in the second round of the DFB-Pokal in October.
And the 29-year-old will get another chance when Stuttgart face SSV Jahn Regensburg in the round of 16 on Tuesday.
"Fabi was very good in the last cup game," Stuttgart coach Sebastian Hoeness said at a press conference on Monday, confirming that Bredlow will come in for Alexander Nübel on Tuesday.
“He is an extremely reliable goalkeeper and gives Alex [Nübel] the chance to catch his breath.”
Meanwhile, Hoeness couldn't say who would get the nod up front. With Deniz Undav and El Bilal Touré injured, Ermedin Demirovic has been playing a lot recently and could get a rest on Tuesday.
"He has a lot of minutes under his belt and will get more before Christmas. That's why we need to talk to him. Openly," Hoeness said of Demirovic.
Justin Diehl or Nick Woltemade could come in for Demirovic up front if necessary.
