Germany's EURO 2024 nets €2.5billion record windfall for UEFA

The 2024 European Championships in Germany managed to draw in eye-watering and unprecedented sums of money for European football's governing body.

The 2024 European Championship in Germany raked in a financial windfall of €2.5billion for Europe’s football federation UEFA. 

UEFA finance director Josef Koller announced the figure at the 49th Congress in Belgrade, declaring it a new record revenue for the tournament. 

In total, the EUROs in Germany amassed around €600million more than the previously highest-grossing championship in France in 2016.

With regards to profits, a whopping €1.276billion was generated by UEFA in the Bundesrepublik. 

The tournament profits stemmed from the 51 matches played across the 10 host cities which included: Hamburg, Berlin, Dortmund, Gelsenkirchen, Leipzig, Düsseldorf, Köln, Frankfurt, Stuttgart and Munich.
