Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany was spotted in the stands for the Coppa Italia semi-final first leg between AC Milan and Inter on Wednesday.

With Bayern facing Inter in the quarter-finals of the Champions League, Kompany wanted to have a look at his side's upcoming opponents - but reports from Italy suggest that wasn't the only reason he was there.

According to both Tuttomercatoweb and Calciomercato, Kompany also wanted to watch AC Milan's Malick Thiaw play, claiming he's on Bayern's shortlist.

Asked about his visit to the San Siro, Kompany told a press conference (via Fussballtransfers) on Thursday:

“I study football a lot. Yesterday, in my free time, it was a chance to look one step ahead. I wasn't there for the reasons you might think.”

Thiaw, 23, has also been linked with a move to Bayer Leverkusen.
