Following the sacking of Nuri Sahin as Borussia Dortmund coach on Wednesday, Niko Kovac has been touted as a possible successor.

Dortmund have reportedly held talks with Kovac about the job, but the 53-year-old has now denied that he has spoken to the Black and Yellows personally.

"I haven't spoken to anyone, no one has spoken to me - everything is fine," Kovac told Canal+, for whom he works as a football pundit.

"Everyone who knows me knows that I'm a guy who needs challenges and also looks for them," Kovac said, adding:

"I'm happy, I haven't done anything for nine months now, but the time will come when I'll do something again. There's nothing to report and we don't need to talk about unlaid eggs".

Kovac was last in charge of Wolfsburg, who sacked him in March 2024. He's also been the head coach of Monaco, Bayern Munich, Eintracht Frankfurt and Croatia.
