Victor Boniface could make his long-awaited return to action when Bayer Leverkusen travel to RB Leipzig for Saturday's Bundesliga clash.

The Nigeria international returned to the squad for Tuesday's 2-1 defeat against Atletico Madrid for the first time since suffering a hamstring injury in November, but was an unused substitute.

Asked if Boniface is fit enough to play a half against Leipzig, Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso replied at a press conference on Friday:

“Yes, we'll see. But he's in the squad.”

Alonso also revealed that Amine Adli, who has been sidelined since October with a broken fibula, is making progress in his recovery.

“We expect him to start training next week. He's on the right track and we think he'll be back sooner rather than later,” said the Spaniard.

"Hopefully we'll have him back with the team soon. Slowly, but soon."

Adli, Jeanuel Belocian and Martin Terrier are Leverkusen's only absentees for Saturday's game.
