Leverkusen inform Bayern of their Nübel interest

In search of a new goalkeeper for next season, Bayer Leverkusen have set their sights on Alexander Nübel.

Alexander Nübel extended both his Bayern contract and the loan deal at VfB Stuttgart, but Sky now reports Bayer Leverkusen show interest in signing him this summer. However, Florian Plettenberg said that the Werkself aren’t sure about affording the financial package.

Both the player and Bayern are aware of Leverkusen’s interest in bringing the German international. Nübel could win the DFB Pokal with Stuttgart this season as Sebastian Hoeneß’s side reach the cup final in Berlin.

Former Freiburg shot-stopper Mark Flekken is still considered a more viable option by last season’s double winners. The Dutch goalie is enjoying a solid season at Premier League outfit Brentford.

Leverkusen are actively looking for a goalkeeper since they’re not satisfied with Matěj Kovář’s poor season. It could also be the time to replace the 35-year-old Lukas Hradecky with a young custodian.
