Manchester United appear to have stepped up their interest in wantaway Bayern Munich striker Mathys Tel.

According to Sky Germany, the Red Devils have made contact with the Bavarians over the possibility of signing Tel on loan.

It was reported on Thursday that Tottenham and Bayern had agreed a fee of €60 million for Tel.

However, Tel himself hasn't given the go-ahead for a move, with Sky Germany suggesting that he is currently leaning towards a loan transfer.

Bayern board member for sport Max Eberl said at a press conference on Friday that it's currently unclear whether the Frenchman will leave the club on loan or permanently.

"Whether it's a loan or a sale, we'll see. It needs to be right for all parties. Will we do it? Our squad is very well set up,” said Eberl.
