Ideally, Bayern Munich would have liked to announce a contract extension for Jamal Musiala beyond 2026 before Christmas.

However, negotiations between the parties are still ongoing and could now drag on due to a specific demand from Musiala.

That's according to Sport Bild, who reports that the Germany international is demanding a release clause of €175 million in his contract talks with Bayern.

According to the report, Musiala's representatives are making the inclusion of the clause dependent on the length of the contract.

In the case of a four-year contract, it wouldn't be as important to the player as in the case of a five-year deal.

In any case, Bayern aren't happy with Musiala's demand, as including a release clause in a contract is usually a no-go for the Bavarians.

Time will tell how much Bayern are willing to bend in order to secure a new deal with the 21-year-old. As long as his future remains unresolved, Europe's elite will certainly be monitoring his situation.
