Bayern Munich have been working for months to extend Jamal Musiala's contract beyond 2026.

However, a deal isn't imminent at the moment, as the 21-year-old reveals in an extensive interview with Sport Bild.

Musiala said in November that he didn't expect a decision on his future to be made this year, and that hasn't changed.

"Unfortunately I can't give the fans a Christmas present. There won't be any news in the near future," Musiala told the German publication.

He doesn't want to be rushed into a decision and wants to take his time.

"We've had a lot of games recently, a lot of travelling. My focus is to concentrate on the games. I want to be free on the pitch, even if there's a lot of pressure from outside," said Musiala.

“All in all, all the parameters that contribute to this big decision have to feel good and right for me.”

Although he hasn't yet signed a new contract yet, Musiala can see himself staying at Bayern for the long term.

"I would like to leave my mark on an era at FC Bayern. If I extend my contract with FC Bayern, that's my ambition and my goal," said Musiala.

“But I also know that you have to work for it, with victories, titles and major trophies. Then you get that kind of prestige: I want to earn that at FC Bayern.”
