Kane hat-trick lifts Bayern past Dortmund

Harry Kane scored a hat-trick in his first 'Der Klassiker' as Bayern Munich crushed familiar foes Borussia Dortmund 4-0 at the Signal Iduna Park.

Bayern Munich bounced back from their shock exit from the DFB-Pokal in midweek with a 4-0 victory over fierce rivals Borussia Dortmund at the Signal Iduna Park in Saturday's late Bundesliga match.

Dayot Upamecano, back from a spell on the sidelines, gave Bayern the perfect start to the game when he headed in Leroy Sané's corner after just four minutes.

The lead was doubled five minutes later when Harry Kane finished off a well-executed attack. Leroy Sané latched onto Leon Goretzka's perfect pass and squared the ball across goal for Kane to finish from close range.

Bayern dominated the first half and prevented Dortmund from creating any real chances until just before the break, when Donyell Malen shot over from a promising position.

Jamal Musiala nearly killed the game off early in the second half when he was played in one-on-one with Gregor Kobel, but the Dortmund goalkeeper made an excellent save to deny him.

Manuel Neuer also showed his reflexes at the other end of the pitch, making an impressive save to prevent Marco Reus from pulling a goal back in the 57th minute.

However, Bayern never really lost their grip on the game and added a third in the 72nd minute when Kingsley Coman found Kane, who slotted his second of the evening past Kobel.

And then, two minutes into stoppage time, Kane struck again to complete his hat-trick, ruthlessly firing the ball into the net after Bayern had won possession high up in the Dortmund half.

Kane now has 15 Bundesliga goals to his name, one more than Serhou Guirassy, and is the league's top scorer.

With the win, Bayern extended their unbeaten run against Borussia Dortmund to 11 games (10 wins, 1 draw), with the Black and Yellows having failed to beat their Munich rivals since 2019.

The three points keep Bayern two points behind leaders Bayer Leverkusen at the top of the table. Dortmund, meanwhile, are fourth.
