Amid a spate of unfortunate injuries during a crucial juncture in the season, the latest update hasn’t been any kinder to Bayern Munich.

Fans were hoping veteran goalkeeper Manuel Neuer might return to face Inter Milan in their quarter-final second leg, but that has been ruled out.

Both BILD and Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg have confirmed that the 39-year-old will miss the crucial fixture at the San Siro.

Furthermore, Neuer is unlikely to return in time for the Bundesliga clash with FC Heidenheim next weekend either.

Bayern’s fixture against Mainz on April 26 is the hopeful date for the World Cup winner’s comeback.

Jonas Urbig is fully expected to make his ninth appearance for Die Rekordmeister in Milan on Wednesday evening.
