After taking some time to settle in following his summer move from Werder Bremen, Nick Woltemade has emerged as a key player for VfB Stuttgart, scoring 11 goals in 21 appearances.

Woltemade's fine form has led to calls for the striker to be called up to the German national team in March, with former Stuttgart star Cacau among those urging his inclusion.

And the 23-year-old, who is playing for the Under-21 national team, admits it would be a dream to represent his country at senior level.

“It is every footballer's dream to play for the national team. And of course it's also my goal to play for the senior team one day. I'll let myself be surprised as for when and how quickly that will happen,” Woltemade told Sport1.

"I am very relaxed about it and I am living in the here and now. We'll see what happens in March. As we all know, things can happen very quickly in football.

“Basically, I feel very comfortable with the U21s. We have a great team and I have a role that I really enjoy. It's almost a family atmosphere with the boys.”

Germany's next matches are in March, when they face Italy in two UEFA Nations League quarter-final matches.
