19-year-old Can Uzun saved the day for Frankfurt as his header salvaged a point in a hard-fought draw against Wolfsburg. After the game, Dino Toppmöller admired his team’s response after going behind through Tuta’s own-goal.
“We’d have deserved to win the game, especially since we gave away a cheap goal,” says Frankfurt’s coach. “When you consider that it was our seventh game in three weeks, the energy we had at the closing stage of the game was remarkable. It’s just a shame that we couldn’t start the game in a similar fashion.”
The 44-year-old looks forward to the upcoming week as he plans to reward his squad with a maximum of two days break. “Now we’re happy to have a few days off. We can regenerate during this time,” he added.
Toppmöller also addressed his concern over Robin Koch’s injury. The center-back started every game this season, but he was substituted only after 15 minutes holding his shoulder. Further tests would decide the severity of the injury, but it does seem like he’s facing a long spell on the sidelines.
