Bayern succumbed to their second league defeat of the season after VfL Bochum’s historic comeback. While their healthy lead at the Bundesliga summit remained intact, Vincent Kompany admits his team deserves to be criticized for the shock defeat.
"We lost, no excuses. We can analyze as much as we want. But, in the end, we need to take responsibility for everything and make sure we build towards our next game.” said Bayern’s coach after the loss. “So far, we always react well to defeats. It's important to accept there will be criticism, but we should focus on the reaction in our next game.”
Kompany also showed no interest in blaming the defeat on João Palhinha's red card. "We'll talk about the red card moment, but it shouldn't be an excuse. Even with 10 men, we were 2-1 ahead. And, we should be winning this game, or at least avoid the defeat. Nonetheless, I don't want to take the credit away from Bochum. They deserved their win"
Before he was asked about results elsewhere, Kompany unceremoniously responded with “I don’t care about Leverkusen’s defeat”.
