Werder Bremen have confirmed that Naby Keita will join Ferencvaros on a one-year loan in January.
Keita's contract with Werder runs until the summer of 2026 and the loan move includes a purchase option, which Werder hope the Hungarian side will activate.
“We are happy that we have found this solution together with Naby and his agent. It was clear to us that Naby would no longer play for Werder. This loan is therefore the right step for him and for us. We wish Naby every success in Hungary,” said Werder managing director Clemens Fritz.
Much was expected of Keita when he signed from Liverpool on a free transfer in the summer of 2023, but he has made just five appearances for Werder.
Keita has been out of the first team squad since April, when the club claimed the 29-year-old had refused to get on the Werder bus after being told he wouldn't start against Bayer Leverkusen.
