After yet another disappointing result in the form of a 1-1 draw with St.Pauli this afternoon, Xabi Alonso answered questions at the post-game press conference. The Leverkusen head coach stated the league is not over, but his players must accept the poor result.

"Too many differences [in results] this season, which is why Bayern's lead is so large. The season isn't over yet, but we have to accept the moment we're in. We want to do better.

"It was a high-intensity game. We didn’t start well in the first 15 minutes but we responded well after that and had more pace and control and got the [Schick] goal.

"In the second-half St. Pauli pressed a bit more and we couldn’t find the final ball to get a second goal. We allowed them more corners and free-kicks and conceded the equaliser. In the end it’s not enough for us,” Alonso explained.

Bayer Leverkusen take on FC Augsburg next weekend knowing there is no room for a slip up. With just 4 matchdays remaining, league leaders Bayern Munich require just 5 points to claim the Meisterschale.
