"They're a top team" - Tah on Bayern clash

Speaking ahead of his side's all-important Champions League round of 16 clash against Bayern München, Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah gave his thoughts.

“They're a top team that has a lot of experience in this competition,” said Tah, who has started every match for die Werkself in the Champions League this season.

He added that: “It will certainly be two different games. At the Allianz Arena tomorrow, there will be moments when the opponent might have more control. Then we have to show that defensive work can also be fun.”

Since Xabi Alonso took charge at the club in 2022, Leverkusen are unbeaten against Bayern, with his side being a thorn in the side of die Rekordmeister.

With the two legs being the fourth and fifth encounters between the sides this season, Alonso's men are unbeaten, having drawn both league matches, and securing a 1-0 DFB-Pokal win in December.

Despite this, Tah outlined that: “They will be challenging games, but that's exactly what we're looking forward to! We definitely don't have to hide from any team, we've shown that enough. And we want to show that again now.”

The current Bundesliga champions travel to Allianz Arena with the aim of takingTa a positive result back to North Rhine-Westphalia ahead of the crucial second leg at the BayArena next Tuesday.
