On Monday morning, Kicker published an article claiming that Florian Wirtz has extended his contract with Bayer Leverkusen beyond 2027.

However, according to Sky Germany, the 21-year-old hasn't penned a contract extension yet, although the parties are in good talks.

The German media outlet has contacted Bayer Leverkusen, who have refused to confirm anything.

"Bayer 04 has enjoyed a very trusting and close relationship with Florian Wirtz and his family for many years. Contractual matters will continue to be discussed exclusively between the Bayer 04 management and the Wirtz family," read the statement from Bayer 04.

“Should there be any changes to the current contractual situation (until 2027), Bayer 04 will of course continue to deal with this as before and in agreement with the Wirtz family. We ask for your understanding that we will not comment further on this topic.”
