When Borussia Mönchengladbach captain Jonas Omlin suffered a calf injury in September, Moritz Nicolas stepped in as his replacement.

Omlin is now fit again, but as Gladbach coach Gerardo Seoane recently confirmed, Nicolas will remain in goal after a number of impressive performances.

Omlin, 30, has now reacted to the decision, telling Kicker:

"I've never been in a situation like this before.

"It's an understandable decision by the coach. Moritz has been doing a great job and the team has had some good results in recent weeks. I think I have to understand the decision.

"It's a shame, butI've been out a lot in the last few months. As long as Moritz is performing well, nothing will change," said Omlin.

Nevertheless, the captain is determined to do everything in his power to force his way back into the side, pointing out that football is a "day-to-day business".

"That's why you always have to go full throttle," he said.
