Although he couldn’t repeat last season’s sensational Bundesliga campaign, there are still many clubs interested in hiring Sebastian Hoeneß in the summer. For his part, the 42-year-old is yet to give his words to stay put at VfB Stuttgart beyond the end of the season.

As per, Stuttgart are already working on a replacement. Sky reports that Polish coach Lukas Kwasniok is one of their targets to take over the reins starting next season. Kwasniok’s previous work relationship with Stuttgart’s director of sport Fabian Wohlgemuth could be a big factor in negotiations.

Kwasniok joined Paderborn at the start of the 2021-22 season. After top-seven finishes in each of his first three seasons, his team is currently vying for a promotion back to Bundesliga. The Black and Blue last played in Germany’s top-flight in the 2019-20 campaign.

Al-Ahli’s Matthias Jaissle is another name linked with the club, according to Sky. The former RB Salzburg coach struggled to make the Jeddah-based club compete with Al-Hilal and Al-Ittihad, but he still has a chance to win the club’s first Asian Champions League title.

Hoeneß could still depart VfB with a cup triumph. The Swabians will face out-of-form RB Leipzig in the DFB-Pokal semi-final. In the league, they’re still in the race to qualify for a European competition.
