Bayer Leverkusen are sweating over the fitness of centre-back Edmond Tapsoba head of their Champions League last-16 clash with Bayern Munich this Wednesday.
Having missed Die Werkself’s 4-1 win over Eintracht Frankfurt last weekend, Xabi Alonso spoke to the media regarding the matter.
“We didn’t want to take too many risks. We’re waiting a bit, day by day. We hope he’s fit for Wednesday,” Alonso explained.
The Burkina Faso international has been a key lynchpin in the heart of the Leverkusen rearguard all campaign.
If in the event he misses out on the first-leg game, Mario Hermoso might keep his place, or Piero Hincapie could deputise in Tapsoba’s absence.
