There was plenty to celebrate for Mainz as they handed Bayern Munich their first league defeat of the season with a 2-1 win on Saturday.

However, there was a fly in the ointment for Bo Henriksen's side as their top scorer, Jonathan Burkardt, went off with an injury.

After thorough scans, it has been revealed that Burkardt has suffered a left hamstring muscle injury that will keep him out of action for several weeks.

Exactly when he will be able to return to team training is unclear at the moment, with Mainz simply stating that it will depend on the speed of his recovery.

Burkardt, 24, has scored 11 goals in 15 appearances for Mainz this season.
